  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix well.
  5. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. In a small bowl, mix the cinnamon and sugar for coating.
  7. Roll the dough into balls and then coat with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  8. Place them on a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes.
  9. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a couple of minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

  • For softer cookies, do not overbake them.
  • You can chill the dough for 30 minutes for thicker cookies.
