  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla, and mix until smooth.
  4. Divide the batter evenly into two bowls. In one bowl, mix in the cocoa powder.
  5. In the prepared pans, add alternating spoonfuls of the vanilla and chocolate batters to create the zebra pattern.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let the cakes cool before removing them from the pans.
  8. Frost with your favorite frosting and enjoy!
