- 6 cups cubed stale bread
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup raisins (optional)
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread, milk, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt. Mix well until combined.
- If using, fold in the raisins.
- Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until set and golden brown on top.
- While baking, prepare the vanilla sauce.
- Serve warm with vanilla sauce drizzled on top.
Notes
- For an extra touch, add a sprinkle of nutmeg on top before baking.
