A delicious and comforting dessert made with old-fashioned bread and a rich vanilla sauce.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups cubed stale bread
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup raisins (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread, milk, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt. Mix well until combined.
  3. If using, fold in the raisins.
  4. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until set and golden brown on top.
  5. While baking, prepare the vanilla sauce.
  6. Serve warm with vanilla sauce drizzled on top.

Notes

  • For an extra touch, add a sprinkle of nutmeg on top before baking.
  • This pudding is great served warm or cold.
