  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup molasses
  • 1 cup hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a bundt pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, baking powder, spices, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in molasses.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with hot water to create a smooth batter.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before inverting onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding chocolate chips or nuts to the batter.
  • Serve with a dusting of powdered sugar or a cream cheese glaze.
