Easy Crème Brûlée – A Classic Dessert Made Simple

Easy Crème Brûlée is a simple and indulgent dessert that you can make at home with minimal ingredients and effort.

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise
  • 5 large egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. In a saucepan, combine heavy cream, whole milk, and vanilla bean. Heat until just simmering.
  3. In a bowl, whisk egg yolks and granulated sugar until light and creamy.
  4. Gradually whisk the hot cream mixture into the egg mixture.
  5. Strain the mixture through a fine sieve to remove the vanilla bean.
  6. Pour the custard into ramekins and place them in a baking dish.
  7. Fill the baking dish with hot water halfway up the sides of the ramekins.
  8. Bake for about 40-45 minutes, or until set.
  9. Remove from the oven and cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  10. Before serving, sprinkle a thin layer of brown sugar on top and caramelize with a kitchen torch.

Notes

  • For best results, use fresh vanilla bean.
  • Ensure the custard is fully set before chilling.
