A comforting and hearty chicken and dumplings recipe made from scratch.

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup carrots, diced
  • 1 cup celery, diced
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, add the chicken, carrots, celery, onion, and chicken broth. Bring to a boil and then simmer until the chicken is cooked through.
  2. Remove the chicken, shred it, and return it to the pot.
  3. In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir in the melted butter and milk until a dough forms.
  4. Drop spoonfuls of dough into the simmering chicken mixture. Cover and cook for 15 minutes.
  5. Serve hot, garnished with parsley if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add herbs like thyme or parsley.
  • You can use leftover chicken if available.
