Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine pitted dates and boiling water, then stir in baking soda.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well.
  5. Slowly incorporate the date mixture into the wet ingredients.
  6. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt; gradually add to the mixture.
  7. Pour batter into a greased baking dish and bake for 30-40 minutes.
  8. Allow to cool before serving.
