  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light-brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon coarse salt
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semisweet and/or milk chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour and baking soda; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, using a hand mixer, cream together the butter and sugars until fluffy.
  4. Add the salt, vanilla, and eggs; beat until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  9. Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

  • For chewier cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
  • You can substitute dark chocolate chips for a richer flavor.
